At this sad time, we join the nation in remembering Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and would like to express our appreciation for her lifetime of dedicated service. We send our sincerest condolences to the royal family and those close to her, and all who were touched by her throughout her illustrious 70-year reign
Now that the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, the Group has resumed Observed drives and aims to resume social gatherings where possible, starting with our AGM on March 1st.

With deep regret we are saddened to announce that Paddy Hopkirk passed away on 21st July 2022 in Stoke Mandeville Hospital after a short illness.
Paddy was 89, and a strong supporter of our High Wycombe Group of Advanced Motorists. He was a regular attendee at our AGMs and other functions.
Paddy had an extremely charming personality and could put people of all generations at ease. Here he is in 2019 at a Presentation Evening chatting to Emma Lipinski, who had recently gained a F1RST.
Paddy was extremely keen on road safety, and especially for young people to achieve Advanced Motoring passes. Here he is photographed (accompanied by our then Chair, Keith Chanter) in 2019 congratulating three F1RST Passes from our Group.

This month we have three Avanced Driving Test passes, with two achieving a F1rst: E. Lipinski (observer Andrew True) and E. O'Sullivan, who's observer was Don Firminger. K. Stephens also passed with Peter Woolley as her Observer.
The observant amongst you may have noticed that there are two E. O'Sullivans passing recently - one last month, and one this month. This is not a trick of the eyes, but just happens to be a sibling pair, and completes a 3rd generation of the same family achieving IAM RoadSmart membership with our group!

The High Wycombe Group IAM thank Graeme Booker for his extended services to the group, not least as his role as Chief Observer. Unfortunately, as Graeme is moving away from the area he has had to resign this committee position. In his place, the committee has co-opted Andrew True, an existing longstanding Obeserver, and recently qualified IMI National Observer with the group, as the role of Chief Observer. The role will be formalised by vote at the next Committee Meeting.

This week (10th until 14th March) is Speed Awareness Week in Stokenchurch. The Group are please to announce that we made a �50 donation towards this event, for the purchase of high visbility jackets.
The High Wycombe Group of Advanced Motorists are pleased to announce that 2014 is our 30th year since inauguration in April 1984!
As a celebration of this attainment, we include a copy of the very first edition of the Group Newsletter, and some details of those very first pioneering members who founded the group.
Our present Group Secretary, Robin Thomas, is the only inaugural member still serving the same position as the original committee.
The Group has been active locally in supporting the Local Community and has given Stokenchurch Parish Council a cheque for �500 towards the purchase of Mobile Vehicle Activated Signs.
The 30th AGM of the High Wycombe Group of Advanced Motorists took place on Tuesday, 4th March 2014. Please follow the link for more information and the minutes of the meeting.
The Group enjoyed considerable success in 2013, with 21 of its Associates passing the Advanced Driving Test (a pass rate of 84%), compared with 15 in 2012 (a pass rate of 94%).
We were particularly pleased that 3 of the passes in 2013, those of Mr D Peatfield, Mr M Ellis and Mr W Morris, were categorized as 'F1RST'-class passes!
The group are happy to welcome on-board Gemma Beeken who was co-opted onto the Committee as Young Persons Representative in 2013.
The Group currently has 9 qualified Observers, of whom three- Keith Chanter, Peter Gunn and Andrew True - achieved the new IMI National Observer Qualification last September, and another 3 Group Members are now undergoing training to become Local Observers.
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Terry Castledine on the 16th December 2012. He contributed his time to the IAM by not only being a member of the High Wycombe Group, but also serving as an Observer, and contributing to the Committee.
We pass on our sympathies and condolences to his family and friends.
